Evanescence wrote this song about departure which can be interpreted in several different ways. In the video, it is supposed to represent a departure by death. But just like death, a breakup also invokes intense grief, exhibited by the words of "My Immortal". The lyrics are not the only part that tugs at your heart, but the music also moves you.
