I recently planned a bridal shower for one of my girlfriends and it came out amazing. She went on and on for months about how perfect it was. Why? Because the most important part of a perfect bridal shower is location, location, location. Forget having a shower in some boring and cold hall. It needs to be held in a very homey atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable especially the bride to be. I held her shower in my Aunt's clubhouse in the complex she lives in. The clubhouse was beautiful, with a giant heart fireplace and large over sized cushy sofas and chairs everywhere. They even provided the extra chairs and tables for the food. It only ended up being $100 to rent for the whole day! Newer apartment complexes have these type of club houses that you can rent for a very nominal fee and they usually are equipped with a good sized kitchen. The best part is that you are not leaving your own house or a friend's house in shambles after the shower. You just clean up and leave.

In my opnion the next most important thing is the list of guests to be invited. Don't be shy....invite EVERY female the bride knows and tell her this if she is giving you the list. The bride should get every thing she wants on her list. Tell her not to go cheap on her bridal registry either. She should seriously put down every single thing she could want and she will get a lot of it! When I say you should invite everyone, even women she is barely familiar with, it is because all women love to go to showers! We love it! And if she is not close with some of the women, this is a great chances to strengthen new bonds and make new friends. I don't care if you are worried about the food or getting enough for everyone. This is not the primary concern. The primary concern is making sure the Bride gets as much as possible.

Regarding food you have an easy and cheap solution. I was a little worried about how much a catering company would cost and when I looked into it, I realized that it was way more money than I wanted to spend. What I did was contact five of her closest girlfriends and I asked if they could bring something. You know what? My group of friends love to cook and show off their kitchen based talents. These girls brought enough food to feed an army. Voila.....the problem and question of food was resolved. It was a perfect solution to an expensive problem.
