ROMANTIC PROPOSAL IDEAS Part 3
The Secret Ring
You may want to add the elements of fun and surprise to your private proposal. The most obvious way to do this is by presenting your beloved with an engagement ring in a clever fashion. Use your imagination and come up with a unique idea. Listed here are a few suggestions:
- If your partner has a pet dog or cat, attach the engagement ring to the animal's collar. After you have proposed, call the pet into the room to deliver the all-important jewel.
- Put the engagement ring on a necklace, then place the necklace around a stuffed animal. You can buy a new stuffed animal or use one of her personal favorites for this idea.
- Put the engagement ring inside a balloon. Inflate the balloon (don't use helium) and write "Will You Marry Me?" across the front. Include this "special" balloon in a bouquet of multi-colored helium-filled balloons. (Again, for obvious reasons, make sure the balloon that holds the ring is not filled with helium. As an added preventive measure, tie the string of the ring-filled balloon to your wrist. In case the balloon bouquet gets loose, this will keep the special balloon from being carried up and away with the others.) When your lover opens the door, step inside and present her with the bouquet. It shouldn't take long for her to notice the balloon with your proposal.
- Here's another way to surprise your lover with a ring-filled balloon. First, empty the contents of a closet in your sweet heart's home. Next, tie a string to the special balloon and suspend it from the closet ceiling (eye-level is best). The next step is to fill the entire closet with loose inflated balloons. When your lover opens the closet door, she will find herself in the midst of a balloon waterfall. After the initial shock, she will notice the special balloon that is still hanging in the closet.
- Another idea for the ring-filled balloon is to place it in a room that is filled waist-high with other balloons. After telling her that one of the balloons is special, watch her enjoy herself as she wades through this sea of balloons, trying to find the distinctively important one.
- It is common for marriage proposals to coincide with holidays or other special days; this enhances the already-festive atmosphere. If you plan to propose at Easter, you can hide the ring inside a plastic Easter egg. At Christmas, you might wrap the ring in an oversized gift box to throw her off. To add a bit of drama to the unwrapping, you can place the ring box inside a slightly larger box, place that inside yet another box, and so on. All the boxes should be gift-wrapped so that your intended will have to un wrap a series of boxes before she gets to the ring. Or place the ring in the bottom of a Christmas stocking. If you plan to propose to your lover on her birthday, write your proposal in frosting on top of the birthday cake or include a written proposal in her birthday card.
- If you plan on proposing to your lover over a candle-lit dinner that you have prepared yourself, try the following surprise tactic. Hide the engagement ring by freezing it in an ice cube. Use that cube in her drink that night.
- Write your proposal on a small piece of paper. Insert both this paper and the engagement ring (if possible) in a fortune cookie. Hopefully, when she breaks open the cookie, her for tune will agree with her.
- Place the ring in an ordinary spot-her purse, for instance. Then ask her to get something from her purse. When she looks inside, she will discover your big surprise.
