ROMANTIC PROPOSAL IDEAS Part 2
A Fairy Tale Proposal
If your beloved is one who loves fairy tales and romantic gestures, this plan should blow her away. Here's your chance to be her knight in shining armor. However, you have to be able to ride a horse to carry off this proposal. To start, you must get out your telephone directory and find two things: a place that will rent you a horse, and a costume shop. Arrange to rent a horse for the afternoon (preferably a white one), then rent a knight's costume. Have your lover meet you at a park that afternoon in a specific spot. Now you can ride up to her, gallantly dismount, and bend down on one knee to propose. If she will let you, carry her away on horseback after she accepts your hand in marriage.
Déjà Vu
A common but classy trick to employ for a marriage proposal is a re-enactment. The most obvious choice is to re-create your first date. Go to the same places and try to do the same things you did on that date. This time, however, add your profession of love and proposal of marriage to that good-night kiss.
A Floating Proposal
Isolating yourselves from everyone else is a great way to set a romantic mood before popping the question. Rent arowboat or a small motorboat and take her out on a peaceful lake. There is something timeless about the water that is a perfect accompaniment to the sentiments expressed in an offer of marriage.
Far and Away
Plan your proposal to coincide with a time when you and your lover are on a romantic vacation. At an opportune time during the trip, profess your love and. present the ring to your sweetheart. What makes this idea so appealing is that you have the rest of the vacation to celebrate with fun and romance.
Mystery Roses
On the day you plan to propose to your lover, fill her day with roses. Begin the morning by preparing her breakfast. Have a single rose in a bud vase as a table centerpiece. Try to place another rose in her briefcase or purse for her to discover at some point during the morning. Then arrange to meet her at a restaurant for lunch. When she gets to the table, have her find another rose lying across her plate. While she is at work in the afternoon, slip another rose on the front seat of her car or place one under the windshield wiper for her to discover when she leaves work. When she gets home and walks in the door, have her find yet another rose along with a note instructing her to meet you for dinner at her favorite restaurant. Finally, greet her with a bouquet of roses as she walks into the restaurant. As she takes the bouquet, gently place a tender kiss upon her lips. You have set the perfect romantic background. Propose amidst this atmosphere of flowers and love.
Detective Lessons
An intriguing way to propose to your lover is by creating a path of clues for her to follow that eventually leads to an engagement ring. Begin by hiding the ring in a clever spot somewhere in the house. As she walks through the door, pique her interest by handing her a written clue that leads her to a location where a second clue awaits. Have her solve two or three more clues that eventually lead her to the ring and to your heart, both hers forever. You might write out your proposal on a scroll, then roll it and fit it into the ring for her to find at the final clue location.
A Photo Proposal
Use the idea of a photo album to make an engagement proposal. Create a photo album that documents the times and events you and your lover have shared. When you are ready to propose, make sure the two of you are alone and the setting is romantic. Bring out the album (this alone will be a pleasant surprise), and begin going through the photos together. If your lover is at all sentimental, going through this memorabilia will probably put her in a tender, emotional mood. On the last page of the album, have a photo of the two of you together. Under this picture, write out your proposal. If possible, fasten the ring to this page, as well. This beautiful album sums up your lives together thus far, and ends with the hope for a future together.
Greeting Card Love
If you plan to propose on a day that is normally associated with the giving of a greeting card-Valentine's Day, Christmas, a birthday-you can spice up the Hallmark habit. Purchase a large greeting card. Write out your proposal on a smaller card, then slip it into the greeting card. When she opens the card, recite the proposal exactly as it is written. Offer her the ring in exchange for her heart. The idea of writing out your proposal is nice because you will always have a record of it; something you can go back to and reread as you move through your life together, something you can show your children and grandchildren.
A Surprise Engagement Party
People often have engagement parties prior to their wed dings. A union of two worthy souls is certainly deserving of such a celebration. However, we want to put a slight twist on that notion by having the party before the actual proposal. Arrange to have a group of your lover's friends and relatives waiting at a convenient party location. Get her boss or a family member to send her to the party place under the pretense of running an errand. Not only will your lover be stunned by the surprise of a party, she will be confused by it. Then it will be your turn to step forward and make it all clear for her as you ask her to spend the rest of her life with you. You can then celebrate your future together, along with the people who are near and dear to you.
